Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland – selected venue for the 5th FEBS-IUBMB-ENABLE International Molecular Biosciences PhD and Postdoc Conference in 2026.

Following an open call, we are delighted to announce that the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, has been selected to host the 5th FEBS-IUBMB-ENABLE International Molecular Biosciences PhD and Postdoc Conference in 2026. The FEBS-IUBMB-ENABLE conferences are interdisciplinary, three-day events organized by and for young researchers, featuring a scientific symposium, career day, and outreach activities. These conferences bring together up to 300 participants from around the world.

 

Open call to FEBS Constituent Societies: Nominate a member for the 2026 Scientific Organizing Committee

FEBS Constituent Societies are invited to nominate one of their young members (a PhD student or junior postdoc) to join the Scientific Organizing Committee (SOC) for the 2026 FEBS-IUBMB-ENABLE Conference. The SOC is an international team of PhD students and postdocs who are responsible for shaping the scientific programme of the conference. This includes selecting the theme, inviting speakers, designing the programme, coordinating communications, and securing sponsorship. Each Society may submit one nomination by completing the following form SOC 2026 – Open call for National Societies ,no later than 23 April 2025. Nominees must be members of a FEBS Constituent Society.

The Scientific Organizing Committee (SOC) is an international team of young scientists (PhD students and postdocs) responsible for shaping the scientific program of the conference. The SOC defines the conference theme, invites speakers, designs the overall program, coordinates communication efforts, and seeks sponsorship opportunities.

To ensure members can fully contribute to the planning, applications are encouraged primarily from first- and second-year PhD students. However, third-year PhD students and early-career postdocs (with at least two years remaining on their contract) are also welcome to apply. Candidates must be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society. Only one nomination can be submitted per Society.

The SOC 2026 will consist of 12 members, including:
• 2 representatives from the 2026 host institution (Jagiellonian University, Poland)
• 2 representatives from the 2025 host institution (CRUK Scotland Institute, UK)
• 2 representatives from each of the ENABLE network institutes (IRB Barcelona, Spain,
and the European School of Molecular Medicine, Italy)
• 1 representative from FEBS
• 1 representative from IUBMB
• For the first time, 2 representatives from FEBS Constituent Societies!

The newly formed SOC 2026 will meet for the first time in Krakow in late May/early June (exact dates to be confirmed) for a two-day site visit and kickoff meeting. Two additional in-person meetings will take place in the following months, while the rest of the work be conducted remotely. The expenses for selected candidates will be covered by FEBS.
